I am not a dietician but i know for a fact a vegeterian diet is better for somone participating in sports.
I myself have been a vegan for the last 6 months, but started as a veggie when i was fifteen yrs old,i am now 39,ive seriously been into fitness, especially martial arts since i was 19 yrs old.
I find now especially on my vegan diet i have loads of energy,my recovery rate is very good after hard training.
My circulation is good,my chlorestral is low,my blood pressure is very good.
For 39 i feel that im very fit,yet alot of meat eaters of the same age cant say the the same.
Theres a lot of great sports people that have been veggies/vegans which prooves that meat is not a neccesity for building strenghth.
Ive always been slim and was told by out of shape people that never done any form of exercise except walk down to the pub, tell me that when i would get into my thirtys i would bloat out.
But im still in shape and im still quite slim,i think due to being a vegan and exercising thats the reason.

`Unfortunately, being veg cannot cure flat feet. I have orthotics in my shoes, but I still have to be carful how much running I do, if I want to avoid knee pain. Bummer -- I always thought knee pain was for overweight people who put too much strain on their knee joint, but guess not. I have always been toward the lighter end of healthy weight. And I am 39 now.

I am living proof that one does not have to have been into fitness from an early age to benefit from it now. All through my teens, I was more of a bookworm than anything else, and gym was my worst, and least-favorite, class in school. At 22, I was less fit than my peers: scrawny and with less endurance for long distances. Well, I have caught up to where I want to be, except in upper body strength. I am fitter and healthier now as a 39-year-old vegetarian than I was as a 25-year-old omnivore.
