i slipped today, i went to work today and a co worker gave me a Tamale that was bigger than i've ever seen... i ate without a thought about what was in it. Old habits haunt me sometimes.....

`You must be a new vegetarian. Because long term vegetarians never "slip". We simply DO NOT EVER eat animals.

`Yeah, and we find ourselves reading ingredient labels, because meat products can hide in unexpected places. Like cans of "vegetable" soup, or baked beans. Or, in the South, in what looks like a mess of collard greens.

It also means that most fast-food is off limits. McDonalds' "egg McMuffin" is misnamed; it SHOULD be called the ham-and-egg McMuffin. (Yes, I am lacto-ovo.) And are those fries and onion rings fried in vegetable oil, or grease? Thank God for Subway: the veggie delight really is veggie!

`I make a vegan tamale that the people I work with can't tell from the meat version--so had you been at my office--you'd have been safe LOL....when I went vegan--made that jump straight from meat eating, my stomach made me so miserable (cross contamination at a church function) I stayed on the straight and narrow, and spent a good 6 months being a pain in the butt I'm sure--but that was my learning time period--reading labels, asking questions, instructing food servers, --asking subway people to change their gloves before putting my salad together.
