I love all animals and take offense to see any of them die for any reason. It makes me sad everyday for I cannot stop the killing and I cannot bring them back. I believe that all animals have an inherent right to live and it is not up to humans to decide that they should die for food, for hunting, culling them because they are overpopulated, or for any other reason. I am unalterably opposed to factory farming, moving animals to hunting grounds so others can kill them, for sport, for pleasure or for any other reason whatsoever, including using them as medical experiments which is sick. They depend on humans to do the right thing and so few of us do that it is indeed a sad, sad world that we live in. I cannot get out of my mind a picture of a pig in a gestation crate, or the fact that cows cannot die while they are being slaughtered, that chickens have their beaks removed, or goats are used in military training, or sheep are slaughtered as lambs, turkeys are crammed into tiny cages to be loaded on a truck to be taken to be slaughtered, cats and dogs are boiled alive for their fur in foreign countries, whaling is still allowed, and many, many other atrocities performed every day which are too numerous to mention here. But my heart goes out to all of them including rats, mice, rabbits and many others that people exploit every day for monetary gain. I just wonder what sick, demented minds must be able to think up all these things that people do to animals every day. It just makes me sad. Many people don't stop to think about how many of these activities come about. They come about due to the willingness of humans to take what they want without regard for the consequences for the animal or the environment. All that is on their brain is money and how many more animals they can exploit for financial gain. It is truly disturbing for the lack of compassion for animals we see in our society demonstrates itself in the lack of respect we see for other aspects of society.
