Hi, my name is Véronique, and I live in Paris, France. I am a journalist in a monthly magazine called Psychologies and I am currently writing a paper about "green love". Here in France, we don't really have any green sites or Web communities where people can meet, make friends and even find love thank to their love for nature. I was therefore wondering if some of you would be willing to share their story on green passions with me. The idea is to explain how important it is for you to have veggie friends, or even a green lover and how you met through vegetarian passions. Don't hesitate to contact me : I'm sure your experience can be of great interest to us green frenchies, who still have trouble finding each other . Thanks in advance for everything and hope to read from you soon.

Véronique

`Good luck, Veronique. I found this site a few weeks ago and you're the first person besides myself who's posted anything. All the same, welcome to the dead-and-silent vegetarian passions forum. We're not the only two who visit, but don't expect anybody else to say anything. Veggiemike and Orane were apparently the life of the party before, but it seems like they're gone now, too. It's sorta like a ghost town here, but if one person's experiences can help your article, I'm glad to help if I can. Ask away, I'm not shy.

`Hi Green is good,

Thanks for the encouragement, I kind of need it right now. My paper is really aiming at promoting green web communities (as here, we're about 100 years in back of you guys cross-atlantic). Here are really the two questions that i'ld like to put forward :

- how important is it for you to meet someone who shares your green / dietary convictions ? Do you really consider it can be a plus in a couple and why ?
- Why did you decide to go through vegeterian passions. com (or any other site of the same type) rather than a more traditional means of meeting ? Have you already met people thanks to the site ? What do you think it can teach / bring you in terms of relationship ?

Don't hesitate to go into details if you're inspired. Our readers are always interested in life experiences, especially when it's about being green ! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask either : I'm never very far from my computer.

Thanks for everything and looking forward to reading from you soon,

Véronique

`OK, then maybe we should get some conversation going and people will join in? There are lots of veggies in the UK. Millions of us and we are taking over the world!
I'm divorced but my ex-wife was vegetarian. I have been veg for well over 20 years and I wouldn't consider having a relationship with a woman who was not veg. My kids are veg too and other people in my family.

`Hey again Veronique- sorry the response took so long. I'm surprised about rhe fact that France is so far behind with the whole 'green movement,' especially considering the way we Americans generally stuff our faces with more trash than you could possibly imagine. I went to Canada for a vacation and even their fast food places had veggie burgers, I'd assumed that was a European inspiration. Anyway, as for those two most important questions you had:
1- Very. I was a vegetarian in high school and I was fortunate enough that my 'high school sweetheart' was too. Turned out that wasn't entirely the truth, but that's not important here. It's all for the animals, as far as I'm concerned. I don't consider my health a factor in my lifestyle choice. I just can't kiss a mouth that's filled with death on a daily basis. Not gonna happen. For that reason, I won't bother in a serious relationship with a carnivorous girl.
2.- I was with her for six years and things ended suddenly and absolutely without notice. I had to consider that, of course, everybody's got their idea of the 'right one.' Add to that vegetarianism, and the chances go WAY down, whole search becomes so narrow. Technically I'm not looking, but at the time I guess I figured this might be about the only place to start if I did. I keep coming back because the design and funcionality of this site is great- it's got just about everything. It's the first forum I've ever actually made use of, and go figure it's pretty much dead. I live in a small Pennsylvania town with a LOT of hunters, so I don't get the chance to meet many other herbivores, unfortunately.

I hope that helped a bit, I tried to give enough detail to allow you something to explain in an article. Feel free to ask more, the whole situation's not personal, I just didn't think it was the kinda thing you wanted to know. Of course, best of luck on the magazine!

`Hey again Veronique,
You're most welcome. And I do know a BIT of French- and I mean just a little bit. Either way, I'd like to take a look at the magazine when it's done, and I'd certainly appreciate that link. If you have any more questions, I'll be happy to answer them.
