I believe I should have gone vegetarian a very long time ago but discovered early on that bacon is my kryptonite. But every time I give in, a small part of me dies, so I read, investigate, explore and look for inspiration to stay on this path I was meant to follow. My career has taken interesting twists and turns but has primarily been in the animal health industry, so I honestly have no good excuse.

Sorry--not looking for absolution, just more people in my life who do NOT require meat to survive. Shooting for vegan (being lactose-intolerant helps) but not there yet. I am, as most are, a work in progress.

I must declare that my schedule is hectic: I am committed to helping my sister raise her kid (we live together). I work weekends and typically have a couple weekdays off. I get separation anxiety when away from my dogs and other pets for more than a day or two. I have adventured much in my life and prefer these days to devote my remaining energy to my career in animal rescue. I DO occasionally disappear for days at a time when my favorite rock bands are anywhere in the central U.S. If bacon is my kryptonite, music is my spinach. Or my dark chocolate. You get the idea.

I also set forth that I am not physically or mentally perfect. I do not have all my original teeth, but I treasure those that still are. And damn it, I am funny. What's more important? Anyway, perfection is boring--or at least overrated. I do not, however, discriminate against perfection, so don't feel obligated to match my number of insufficiencies. (I sincerely doubt you could.)

Last declaration: I have felt since puberty that I am a political lesbian trapped in a heterosexual's body. Add the male form to my subsets of kryptonite. Hey, we all have our weaknesses, but how many are strong enough to own them?
