Does the area-limited search make it hard to find people?

I have trouble finding people here, because though there are few vegetarians/vegans in the world, the site limits the search area. I grew up in the UK and USA, so would like to search around the world. It seems like a better option for many vegetarians (I do not know if they would want to search as far as me.) Let us all ask the administrators to upgrade the search for the world instead of adding all these other often useless things and extra sites not many people will want. Adding all these sites is another way that divides the members of the Passions Network, sort of like restricting the search area and making it hard for minorities like vegetarians/vegans does here--the administrators could just add these all as search options, but I suppose getting results in search engines is a good idea and also draws people to the main sites, on the other hand. However, I think spending time adding often useless things (e.g. most stuff that can go in your description, and some 'upgrades') is why sites like the two largest free dating sites may be doing better. I still think Vegetarian & Vegan Passions are among the top six free vegetarian personals sites, but all of them seem only moderately well-implemented at best. The other free ones are small and far down the results in search engines. Of course, most of the rest are run by dedicated vegetarians/vegans that know why you should not limit the search area.

`Vegetarians are a passive and quiet bunch, not used to speaking up for their rights in their diet to most people. Most of the time, I do not even expect to be cooked for, and always go prepared to cook my own meal wherever I am. However, as this diet is a small target market, I do feel that this does limit the availability for finding other vegetarians.

`I think that I have read that we are around 10 percent of the population. That means that there are 300 million americans and 30 million of those would be vegitarians. Evan at 1 percent of the population thats still 3 million vegitarians. We are not as rare as one would think. We just arent as loud about our eating as the meat gobblers. And you can search around the world or rather as far as this site has expanded around the world. What you do is when in the search questions, you type in your Zip code and then put in 5000 miles from there. You will get everybody from the vegitarian website listed in your search. I usually put from 50 to 500 lobs and 18 to 80. That way I get everybody. so back to the numbers. I think a lot of vegetarians are putting up with spouses who eat meat for one reason or another. I have put up with 3 meat gobbeling women. Its hard to meet other vegies. Vegetarians dont seem to run out of the wood works to embrace you just because you are a vegie and that is you contribution to life. I thought other vegies would be more friendly with me. Maybe they are all too self absorded. i dont know. I do know that it is easier to get an ignorant meat gobbler to show you interest than it is another enlightened vegie human being. I for one have only had the pleasure of face to face contact with 2 other vegietarians in my life. I have been a vegie for about 20 years. I believe that there are at least a billion of us world wide. There is a culture of vegitarianism in India. Many Budhist prefer not to eat the flesh of creatures. A lot of jewish folk are vegetarians too. Then there is me by myself. I became a vegetarian without human intervention. My God reasoned with me and I thought it prudent after our talk to be a vegitarian. But running into the rest of you and especially finding someone vegie to date has been hard.

I agree that the search needs to be easier into other Countries, and I would pay for some woman to fly here to the USA from any other Country, so my search would be very realistic.

Putting the 5,000 miles from our zip code into the search still limits me to the USA, and then I have to click through every other Country in the world and that search is a BIG job.

And even then if the Lady in the other Country has not clicked the option of receiving messages from the USA then she will never see my email to her, and I have sent a few already, and there is no way to tell whether she has clicked the option or not.

All I see this doing is limiting the member searches for no reason because we need to be able to at least search and send messages to any other member.

I really did communicate with a Lady in the Netherlands and it did not work out but it was fun trying.
